CASE STUDY

Artist Biography App Design for an Art Gallery
GOOGLE CERTIFICATE COURSE

My Gallery X exists in a neighborhood with a diverse community feel and a cool, Lower East Side vibe. Proud of their international roster, X believes an accessible, well designed

artist biography app will engage the viewer, enrich gallery traffic and stimulate sales.

After extensive research I discovered artists I became passionate about through the process, I want to share that excitement with you.

USER RESEARCH

Interviewing 5 creative individuals developed empathy for my user. From this data, I created:

2 personas, user journey maps and defined pain points

Ideation exercises - Crazy 8's, Storyboard and How Might We?

set user navigation vehicle in motion

Competitive auditing informs what is effective in UI and navigation.

LO-FI PROTOTYPE

2 usability tests were conducted. That feedback influenced several iterations before final design. UI was greatly impacted by the artist selection and the work. I created a dramatic environment with a hit of bright color. I wrote descriptives in the menu to introduce the work.

FINAL PROTOTYPE

TAKEAWAYS

What I learned:

Ideas and UI evolved resulting from testing and feedback.

Art research was rewarding. I wish to evoke the humanity and gifts of my artists and share their stories with UX design.

Lots of opportunities for app development: studio visit videos, gallery store, interaction with art public.

Impact on users:

"I felt like I got to know the artist as a person"

"I was engaged. I really enjoyed the colors and patterns"

"Visually appealing and ease of navigation"
